Lighthouse on the Water

Lighthouse on the Water
by M. F. B. Porter

Lighthouse
On the water
Shining it’s
Narrow light
Into the dark
Abyss of the sea,
Losing itself;
Swallowed whole
In an instant.
The stars glinted
In the velvet
Night sky,
Proud and confident
In the absence of
the sun.
