I Fall
by M. F. B. Porter
That feeling of
being alone
chases me through
my dreams
But no matter how fast
I run
I can’t escape it
It always catches me
right as I start to
fall over the cliff.
I fall and I fall and
I fall
all alone
until I wish
I would disappear
but I can’t.
I still hit the bottom
paralyzed between
dead and alive,
completely forgotten.
I know if I could
just wake
you’d be there
to save me
to tell me
none of it is true
but part of this curse
this trap
is that I can’t wake
to tell you.
